I really like Matt Taibbi, I think he has great style and wit and look forward to reading more of his columns.
But I’ve read enough of these articles that dismiss the Tea Party as “full of shit”. He is basically saying that these people are incapable of even recognizing their own self-interest, and so they vote for things like corporate tax cuts that don’t even benefit them.
At some point, we should face the fact that these people have legitimate grievances with the current state of affairs. Instead of wondering how on earth the Right has managed to politically mobilize these people, we should ask: why has the Left failed?
