When I was last in New Orleans I noticed several of these signs around the city. They remind me of an important Karl Popper quote posted by Mills.

I recently went to a presentation on co-ops as an alternative business model. Another participant who came along brought everyone a package which detailed her plan to transform the local economy based on her own bartering system, etc. She also revealed a certain predisposition towards living in an earthship, among other pecularities.
Later I quipped to my boss that I wasn’t sure which planet her Earthship had arrived from. And he looked at me and said, she may seem like a nutjob now, but every idea we take for granted was once the idea of a nutjob just like her. This reminded me of a famous Bertrand Russell quote:
“Do not fear to be eccentric in opinion, for every opinion now accepted was once eccentric.”
